Em: Things Would Never be “Normal”

My belly button looks funny because I was born with my insides on the outside, which should have been a good indication that things would never be “normal”. Recently a teacher asked me why I shaved my head. I told him I was tired of having messy hair, which is true, but it is funny because the first time I shaved my head was the day after my high school graduation, in preparation for chemotherapy, four years ago. Coming out as queer and non-binary has been the most liberating experience of my life. I appreciate ambiguity and cats with human names, such as been and cheese burritos make me happy.
