Greetings, fellow Ospreys! We are less than one month away from the Big Day: Commencement 2024!
DATE: Saturday, June 15, 2024
TIME: 10 a.m.
PLACE: RWC Rogue Bowl (it’s the debut event post-improvements!)
HIGHLIGHT: RCC music students Caleb Williams and Kailyn Kortie will sing the Star-Spangled Banner a cappella to get us started!
STAFFING: All employees, please work with your supervisor regarding your schedule for this week. Sign-up opportunities for roles will be provided to cover a variety of needs.
Like last year’s ceremony, we will combine our regular degree and certificate recipients with our GED graduates for one event. This was one of the favorite things we have done and we will be keeping it.
Duty assignments for non-faculty staff:
You will be working directly with your supervisor regarding whether you are working on June 15, 2024, what your assignment will be and if your compensation will be flexed or paid out as overtime. Supervisors have access to the task sign-up spreadsheet and will work with you on your assignment. Tasks include (but are not limited to) parking, help with wayfinding, information booths, graduate check-in, ushers and refreshment servers. Information on where and who to report to will be sent out prior to commencement.
Attire for the day:
Full-time faculty and administration with official duties – Full regalia, including mortarboard cap.
- All full-time faculty are required to wear caps and gowns to commencement.
- Regalia needs to be worn only during the ceremony. Before and after it is not required.
- Adjunct faculty are invited to attend commencement but it is not required, and may wear regalia if they wish. Otherwise, a blue RCC shirt paired with pants or skirt is great.
- If you already own regalia, you are all set. You do not need to purchase or rent more.
- If not, there are many websites to choose from, all with varying levels of quality.
- Caps and gowns need to be black.
- Hoods from your highest degree are preferred but not required.
- Hood colors are a combination of the school you graduated from and your degree.
- If you cannot locate your hood, or never received one when you graduated, please visit your alma mater’s website to order.
- The RCC Marketplace has a limited supply of basic caps and gowns.
- Tassels
- Faculty hired this year who need a tassel, please email Sally Snyder at sasnyder@roguecc.edu and include your RCC mailbox. RCC will provide an RCC tassel, minus the year, so they can be used year after year.
All other staff:
RCC blue shirt of your choosing paired with pants, shorts or a skirt.
