Colleagues,
With this being Employee Appreciation Week, it’s the perfect opportunity to share how grateful I am to work with such a committed group of colleagues. The authenticity and passion you exhibit in helping achieve our college mission are truly what make RCC special.
I recognize that for those who do not work in traditionally student-facing positions, it might not always be clear how your work supports the greater good, however, your contributions to operational excellence allow critical aspects of the college to run seamlessly. For many of you, your roles are best done when no one knows you did your job. For example, we appreciate showing up to clean offices and an immaculate campus. Those things don’t occur on their own. Processing documents and payroll may seem like tedious tasks to some, but those of you performing these responsibilities at RCC allow everyone else to do their jobs without worry. Many others take pride in working behind the scenes, and we appreciate their efforts, which we could not function without.
For those of you who represent the face of the college with our students and in the community, thank you for doing so with such pride and commitment to their success. There are many challenging issues occurring outside our college, and your ability to provide a welcoming place to learn and feel accepted can do more good than you may imagine.
The RCC Recognition Taskforce has been working hard to put together activities this week to show appreciation for your work. College leaders have made it a priority to attend these events across the district, though not everyone will be able to attend every event. Unfortunately, I will be in Salem most of the week tending to legislative matters and will have a limited presence at campus activities.
In case you are unable to attend one of the scheduled events or hear it from a leader in attendance, I want to thank each of you for the work you do on behalf of the entire leadership team at RCC.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Randy Weber, Ed.D.
