Green Zone training equips participants with tools and insights to better understand and support the unique challenges and strengths of military students. Originally developed at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in 2010, this nationally recognized program has been adopted by more than 100 universities and organizations. The program’s name references the secure international zone in Baghdad, Iraq, a location familiar to many post-9/11 service members.
This engaging two-and-a-half hour training includes:
- A student veteran panel
- A presentation on traumatic brain injury (TBI) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- A Q&A session
- Resources to enhance understanding and connection
The next training will be held from 9-11:30 a.m. Feb. 21 at the Redwood Campus H Building, Room 2.
Participants will receive a certificate of completion, a challenge coin and a Green Zone badge to display in their office, signifying their commitment to supporting military students and active service members. Lunch is provided.
