We are excited to announce that Rogue Community College is offering students the opportunity to earn Spanish language credits through the Avant STAMP 4S exam, at no cost to them! This is an excellent chance for students to save time and money as they progress toward their college degree or certificate.
Here’s what students need to know:
- Eligibility: Based on their performance on the Avant STAMP 4S exam, students can earn between 4 and 20 college credits in Spanish. The specific credits they can earn are outlined below:
Avant STAMP 4S Exam | Score | Credits | Course |
Spanish Writing or Spanish Speaking | 3 | 8 | SPAN 101, 102 |
Spanish Writing or Spanish Speaking | 4 | 12 | SPAN 101, 102, 103 |
Spanish Writing or Spanish Speaking | 5 | 20 | SPAN 101, 102, 103, 201, 202 |
- Application Process:
- Step 1: Students need to apply to RCC and obtain their RCC student ID number. This is essential for us to apply the credits to their transcript correctly.
- Step 2: Submit the official Avant STAMP 4S test scores to studentrecords@roguecc.edu.
- Step 3: Submit the Foreign Language Proficiency Credits Request Form – Spanish to confirm the number of credits they would like to receive if they are eligible. Students have the option to earn as many credits as they qualify for based on their scores, or they can choose a specific number of credits.
- Step 4: Once steps 2 and 3 are complete, RCC will apply the credit and send the student a notification and instructions on how to view their official Degree Audit, showing the credits applied to their declared major.
- Cost: Free to students. There is no registration fee or cost for the credits.
- Important Information:
- The Spanish credits can be applied toward degree requirements that necessitate language credits or electives at RCC. Some degrees and certificates require language credits or electives that these credits will apply toward. However, not all degrees and certificates require Spanish credits. If you are unsure whether you need these credits, see an RCC Academic and Career Coach before proceeding. To talk with the Advising Department, please reach out to AdvisingFrontDesk@roguecc.edu or 541-956-7192.
- All credits earned through this program are considered for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and may count toward any degree program pursued at RCC.
- If students are eligible for the Oregon Promise Grant, these credits may count toward the 90 attempted credit limit. For more information on the Oregon Promise Grant, please visit Oregon Promise Grant. If you or your students have any questions regarding financial aid, please contact FinAidAdvising@roguecc.edu or call 541-956-7501.
- The credits will be applied to the RCC transcript as “Credit for Prior Learning.”
We encourage you to inform your students about this fantastic opportunity to advance their academic journey with us at Rogue Community College. Don’t let them miss out on this chance to earn free college credits! If you have questions, email Nicole Sakraida at nsakraida@roguecc.edu.
