Oregon Community Foundation Awards $26,000 via Betty Gray Endowment Fund
Rogue Community College received a renewed grant of $26,000 for student scholarships courtesy of the Betty Gray Endowment – Early Childhood Development Fund at the Oregon Community Foundation (OCF). With this funding RCC has been able to provide scholarships up to $4,000 per year for eligible students focused on Early Childhood Education (ECE).
“This scholarship opportunity empowers our students to pursue their career goals with reduced financial stress,” said Bridey Mendoza-Moore, RCC Department Chair, Early Childhood & Elementary Education. “Students can focus more on their studies and their incredibly important work with children, having less or no debt obligation.”
The RCC Foundation is encouraging students who are interested in ECE to enroll in and complete six units of ECE courses during the 2022/2023 academic year in order to be eligible for the scholarship application next year. The Betty Gray Scholarship has been a consistent source of funding over several years and the Foundation anticipates renewed funding for the 2023/2024 academic year. Applications will open again in February, 2023 and close June 1, 2023.
“This wonderful annual grant from the Betty Gray Endowment at OCF helps our region expand options for early childhood education as we successfully graduate more students who have a commitment to serving our youngest community members,” said Jodi Simons, RCC Foundation Interim Director. “We are tremendously grateful to OCF and the Betty Gray Endowment.”
