The IT department would like to inform you of an important upcoming change to the management of your H: Drive storage space. To ensure the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of our network services, the IT department will be introducing disk quotas for all H: Drives.
What are disk quotas? In simple terms, a disk quota is a limit set by IT Leadership that restricts the amount of disk space a user can utilize. It’s like a storage budget for your files.
New Disk Quota: 5GB
Our records indicate that the average user does not require more than 5GB of storage on their H: Drive, so we will set the quota at 5GB. Once you reach this limit, the system will not permit you to save new files until you free up some space. Rest assured, your existing files will not be deleted upon reaching this quota; instead, you will need to manage your storage to continue saving new files.
Action Required
We ask that each of you take proactive steps to review and clean out any old or large files that are no longer in use. This helps adhere to the new quotas and contributes to our network’s overall performance and reliability.
OneDrive as an Alternative Storage Solution
For files that do not contain sensitive data, we recommend utilizing OneDrive for additional storage needs. Rogue Community College provides each user with a substantial 25GB of space on OneDrive, a secure and convenient way to store and access your personal files from anywhere.
How to Get Started
• Sort through your H: Drive files and delete anything outdated or unnecessary.
• Move non-sensitive material to your OneDrive space.
• Please make sure to delete any files containing sensitive data if they are no longer needed.
