Teaching is complex, and while there is an abundance of information online and in books, finding practical, actionable resources can be overwhelming. RCC’s new Teaching and Learning Framework (TLF) simplifies the path to effective teaching by organizing quality instruction into four key areas:
- Classroom Climate: Building a welcoming, inclusive environment that fosters respectful interactions and meaningful connections.
- Instructional Planning and Design: Using intentional planning strategies to align outcomes, activities, and assessments.
- Active Learning and Engagement: Leveraging strategies and technology to create dynamic, interactive experiences.
- Evaluating and Improving Student Learning: Designing assessment processes that align with outcomes and using feedback to promote growth.
The TLF includes tools to support your growth:
- A self-reflection rubric to help identify strengths and areas for improvement.
- A playbook of strategies and tools to enhance your teaching practice and spark new ideas.
Nursing instructor Shantelle Taylor reflected on the TLF’s impact, saying, “I used to think active learning was the responsibility of the student, but now I understand that classroom climate and engagement are largely impacted by educators. The Teaching and Learning Framework has better prepared me to improve my students’ experiences in the classroom and equip them with tools to support lifelong learning outside of RCC.”
The TLF is a resource for inspiration, addressing specific challenges, and fostering collaboration. It’s designed to meet you where you are and help you take the next step in your teaching journey.
