New Accelerated Process for Benefits Eligible Adjunct Faculty (BEAF) Status

A new process allows adjunct faculty to apply for Benefits Eligible Adjunct Faculty (BEAF) status earlier, recognizing their contributions beyond workload percentages. This accelerated pathway acknowledges work outside the classroom and provides an earlier opportunity to achieve BEAF status.

Eligibility Overview

From Article 2.6.M. The term “benefits-eligible adjunct faculty” shall refer to those members of the bargaining unit who work fifty percent (50%) to sixty percent (60%) annual average of a full-time workload three (3) or more consecutive unit-eligible qualifying terms (fall, winter, spring) and who have a cumulative total of seven hundred and fifty percent (750%) workload. Early designation of benefits-eligible adjunct status may be granted at the College’s discretion to members who have a cumulative total of six hundred percent (600%) workload and otherwise meet the eligibility requirements above, subject to the applicable college procedure.

Application Process

The Application for Early BEAF Status outlines the process and the electronic application is available via DocuSign. Adjunct faculty should coordinate with their dean or director for guidance on tracking activities or navigating the process.

This initiative highlights the college’s commitment to recognizing the invaluable contributions of adjunct faculty. For questions please contact Juliet Long on Teams or by phone at 541-956-7279.
