RCC is committed to improving accessibility by promoting the affordability of course materials. In addition to developing a Textbook Affordability Plan, our Textbook Affordability Group (TAG) is actively discussing and implementing steps to support and promote efforts to reduce costs for students by utilizing no-cost or low-cost materials, including OER textbooks. Faculty have played a crucial role in improving affordability by incorporating these course materials, ensuring that students have access to quality education without the burden of high textbook expenses.
Affordability Facts for the 23-24 Academic Year:
- 788 credit sections where adoptions were submitted, used no-cost/low cost materials – an average of approximately 32% of credit courses.
- More than 11,000 students were enrolled in these sections.
- Savings to students totaled just over $1 million.
