JACKSON and JOSEPHINE COUNTIES, Ore. (Nov. 6, 2024) – On November 5, voters in Rogue Community College’s (RCC) service district decided against Measure 17-119, the proposed $60.3 million RCC Bond, in Jackson and Josephine counties.
“Although the bond measure didn’t pass, we remain dedicated to providing high-quality educational programs and supporting the needs of our students, local economy and broader community,” said RCC President Dr. Randy Weber. “We’re grateful to everyone who worked so hard to communicate the importance of this capital bond to the community and to those who came out to vote.”
Measure 17-119 was designed to fund essential capital projects across RCC’s campuses in both counties, which included plans included:
- Supporting the expansion and improvement of key workforce areas such as manufacturing, welding, transportation and health care programs.
- Improving the student experience well into the future with projects that enhance classroom spaces and Student Success Centers.
- Enhancing safety, accessibility and infrastructure lifespan at all campuses.
“The RCC Board of Education deeply appreciates the commitment and effort from the community members throughout the college district who supported this measure. While the measure was intended to invest in the success of our students, meet the demands of the workforce and support the overall health of our communities, the board needs some time to pause and reflect,” said RCC Board of Education Chair Dr. Gary Plano. “While the outcome is not what we had hoped for, we will continue to work with RCC leadership to assess alternative options to address pressing facility needs that support RCC programs and its mission.”
Moving forward, RCC leadership will assess alternative options to address pressing facility needs that support RCC programs and its mission. Information and updates on RCC’s ongoing efforts will be available on the college website at roguecc.edu.
