Innovative staff

Rogue Community College staff were honored with John and Suanne Roueche Excellence Awards at the League for Innovation in the Community College’s Innovations Conference March 18–21 in National Harbor, Maryland. John E. and Suanne D. Roueche are recognized leaders in the community college field and early advocates of connecting teachers to student performance. In recognition of their tradition of community college excellence, the league established the John and Suanne Roueche Excellence Awards in 2012. These national awards celebrate outstanding contributions and leader-ship by community college faculty and staff.

Gary Heigel, RCC Emergency Medical Services chair, received the individual award, and the Marketing Department staff received the team award.

Heigel was recognized for his innovative use of video as a key training and feedback tool for students. More importantly, he shared this innovation with other departments to improve student engagement.

Sara Bristol, Elizabeth Butler, Ryanne Mitchell, Carmen Sumner and Angel Woods — all from Marketing — were recognized for their innovative marketing tool kit, which puts a suite of valuable communications tools for prospective students in the hands of each department at RCC. All recipients were recognized at the John and Suanne Roueche Excellence Awards ceremony during the Innovations Conference, the foremost gathering of community college professionals, fostering innovation in teaching and learning.
