Pay-it-Forward Meals For Students

The cafes at the Redwood and Riverside campuses are each hosting pay-it-forward programs where you have the opportunity to prepay for a meal for a student. Your generosity plays a vital role in ensuring every student can focus on learning without hunger. The programs are similar but not identical:

Buy a meal token to add to the "kitty."

The Cafeteria at Redwood

At the Redwood Campus, you can provide free meals to students by contributing to a meal “kitty.” Students in need can obtain a token from the Student Center or library, redeemable for a complimentary meal. Visit the Cafeteria at Redwood to contribute in cash or by credit card—every penny makes a difference!

The DayDream Café in the HEC

The program at the Riverside Campus HEC utilizes sticky notes, where each note represents a complimentary meal. Participants are encouraged to prepay for a $10 meal at the register, decorate a sticky note with a quote or images and place it beside the register where the meal can be claimed by anyone in need. Individuals in need of a meal can approach the register, select a sticky note and exchange it for any one item on the food menu and a canned soda or bottled water.

Operating as a pay-it-forward system, the success of these initiatives is attributed to the collective involvement of those who contribute to its positive impact. If you have questions, email Laura Haga-Duffy at lhduffy@roguecc.edu.
