Weekly Mandatory Computer Reboots to Enhance System Security and Performance

In a continuous effort to enhance our network’s security and performance, and in alignment with IT best practices, we are instituting a mandatory weekly reboot for all staff computers. This decision has been made in light of our commitment to safeguarding our systems, your data, student data, and ensuring that we can all operate efficiently in our digital environment.

These reboots will be performed every Sunday morning, starting July 23, 2023. By doing this during off-peak hours, we aim to minimize the impact on your work routines. The reboots will allow system updates and maintenance to be run effectively, bolstering the safety and efficiency of our technology infrastructure.

As a crucial part of this new routine, we kindly request that at the end of each workday or at the end of your shift, please save all your work and ensure you’ve signed out of your PC. This will protect your data and prepare your computer for the weekly reboot process.

We understand that this is a new practice, and it might take some time to become a habit. We are confident, however, that this small change in routine will greatly contribute to our college’s technological integrity, security, and resilience.

If you have any questions or concerns about this new policy or need assistance with saving your work or logging out properly, please do not hesitate to reach out to our dedicated IT support team at 541-956-7042 or ithelpme@roguecc.edu. They are ready and willing to help you navigate this transition.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a secure and high-performing digital environment for all of Rogue Community College.
