Ky Anderson is a new intern counseling associate at RCC. Her journey in the helping field began with earning an Associate of Science in Human Services from RCC in 2020 as a first-generation college student. She has worked with underserved families and adolescents, deepening her commitment to understanding human behavior and the systemic societal factors that contribute to mental health outcomes. Ky also holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Southern Oregon University. She is honored to return to RCC in a new capacity that is very meaningful to her. Additionally, Ky serves part-time as a research interviewer at Portland State University, conducting qualitative interviews with individuals facing substance use challenges.
Leveraging her professional and personal experiences, particularly her work with marginalized groups and within systems of oppression, Ky informs her practice by employing person-centered and strengths-based approaches in her counseling. She is dedicated to supporting diverse groups and individuals, providing empathetic listening, empowerment, and guidance through life’s challenges.
In her free time, Ky enjoys rock climbing, hiking, backpacking and soaking up the sun in the area’s many beautiful rivers and lakes with family and friends. As a single parent to her son and daughter, they all share a love for Lord of the Rings and Star Wars.
Ky is eager to meet the RCC community and offer her services to students, staff and faculty. Groups are being created for future terms on topics such as stress management, mindfulness and more. There are no limits to the number of sessions available with Ky. Appointments can be scheduled online, by emailing counselingfrontdesk@roguecc.edu or by calling the counseling front desk at 541-956-7443.
