Advising Department Welcomes New Team Members and Celebrates Transitions

The Advising Department at Rogue Community College has recently undergone several changes, welcoming new team members and celebrating transitions within the college.

Nikki Hoover has officially joined the department after previously serving as both a temporary and part-time classified employee in various areas, including Admissions and Recruitment and the Testing Center.

As of January 2025, Kelly Silva has stepped into the role of Administrative Assistant III for Advising and Rogue Central. She is primarily based at the Table Rock Campus, where she supports Rogue Central Peer Assistants at the front desk and plays a key role in the day-to-day operations of advising services. Kelly also assists in staffing the college’s call center, helping ensure timely and efficient responses to inquiries across the institution.

The department also bids farewell to two valued colleagues who have transitioned to new roles within RCC. Longtime academic advisor Nikki Koenig has moved to the Business Office to work in Accounting, while Abraham (Abe) Reyes has joined the STEP program. Both will be greatly missed and the department extends best wishes for their continued success.

At the end of March 2025, the department will welcome a familiar face in a new capacity. Riley Smith, a former Rogue Central Peer Assistant, has accepted a position as an academic advisor and will primarily support Business Pathways programs at the Redwood Campus.

The current team of Academic and Career Coaches (academic advisors) includes Lyndsay Tarrant, Laurie Taylor, Nikki Hoover, Ginny Brech and Riley Smith. The department looks forward to continuing to provide excellent advising services to students.
