Military Services is proud to introduce our new Military Coordinator at the Redwood Campus, Steve Vandever. During Steve’s time as a military student at Rogue Community College and Southern Oregon University, Steve embraced various fields of study, excelling in Outdoor Adventure Leadership and Computer Information Systems. Steve’s service in the world’s finest Navy is a testament to his commitment to a greater purpose and a desire to impact the world positively. From 2001 to 2005, he served in a squadron of FA/18 Hornets, displaying unwavering dedication and bravery in facing challenges.
In addition to his service, Steve has been an integral part of the Military Resource Center, where he finds camaraderie and a deep connection to the veteran community. Through this involvement as a military student, he played a pivotal role in establishing the Student Veterans Organization (SVO) at RCC. As the chapter president for over three years, he led with passion and dedication, creating a tight-knit community for military students and providing essential resources to those transitioning to civilian and academic life.
Steve’s journey encompasses a rich tapestry of experiences, passions, and service, and he truly represents the best of our student body. As we celebrate his incredible achievements and contributions to the veteran community through SVO, let us be inspired by his dedication to academic pursuits and his sacrifices while serving our country.
Steve’s interests include a passion for classic automobiles, particularly 1968-1972 Chevy trucks and a love for the original Star Wars trilogy, which never fails to ignite his imagination and inspire a sense of wonder. We are thrilled to have Steve as one of the Military Services staff members. Come on by the MRC at RWC and say hello to Steve.
