Please welcome Yan Wang to the Business Technology department!
Yan grew up on the east coast of China, where she pursued her undergraduate studies in Management Engineering at Beijing Information Science and Technology University. In 1998, she moved to the United States with her husband, where she successfully completed a Master’s of Science in Accounting degree at Northeastern Illinois University. Yan lived in a number of places across the United States before eventually settling in the Rogue Valley in 2005.
Her teaching career began at Northeastern Illinois University, where she taught Cost Accounting and provided tutoring for Business Statistics in the College of Business and Management. Following her relocation to the Rogue Valley, Yan began teaching math classes at RCC, covering a wide range of courses, including Basic Math (Math 20), different levels of Algebra (Math 60/65/95) and Elementary Statistics (Math 243). Presently, Yan has embraced her new role as a full-time Business Technology faculty member. She will be teaching a variety of Accounting, Business Math and Introductory Business Statistics courses.
Outside of teaching, Yan keeps herself busy with home improvement projects, nurturing her plants, enjoying Saturday morning tea with friends and frequently visiting her kids who attend college in Corvallis. One of her most cherished pleasures is watching movies with her cat, Mouse, nestled comfortably in her lap.
Yan’s favorite quote is: “It’s never too late to be what you might have been” by George Eliot.
